Luann Williams received a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Spanish from Texas State and is currently a master’s student in Spanish. Her knowledge of Spanish has continuously broadened her interest in Latin America and its history; therefore, the opportunity to travel to Uruguay on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) grant would allow her to immerse herself in a new culture, gain more teaching experience, and ultimately open more doors for her future. If selected, Luann will teach a variety of age groups, ranging from children to adults, as well as enroll in university courses. With a passion for music, she also hopes to explore the country’s music scene and collaborate with local musicians. In addition to continuing to travel, Luann plans to begin a career in teaching after completing her master’s degree, specifically as a Spanish teacher, and potentially become an interpreter one day.
