Linguistics 3301 – Introduction to Translation

Description: The main objective of this course is to introduce you to the fundamental principles of translation. Regardless of which foreign language(s) you speak, this course will give you the basics in translation theory and practice. An additional purpose of this course is to provide the foundation for a translation concentration that we hope one day will offer our students a certificate in translation at Texas State. Translation is not only a fun activity; it is also a dynamically growing field with plenty of career opportunities in agencies, international business and government. This course will provide an excellent foundation for language-specific translation courses. The language of instruction is English.

Description: Is foreign language teaching your dream career? Or maybe you are itching to go abroad and teach English after graduation? Enroll in LING 3307: Foreign Language Acquisition. This course is designed for students seeking teacher certification or those training to teach English abroad. It offers an introduction to foreign language development and to best practices of foreign language instruction. Our course meets synchronously on Zoom: Tuesdays, 5-8 pm.
