A Postcard from Dr. Moira DiMauro-Jackson, Italian
Every summer I take a group of Italian and Honors Study Abroad Program students on excursions to the many monuments, museums, churches and archeological sites of Northern and Southern Italy. Last summer, while studying in Florence, we visited Pisa and Lucca, and while studying in the Amalfi coast, we visited Paestum, a Bufalo Mozzarella Factory and the ancient city of Pompeii. The students studied Italian language, volunteered at a Senior Center, an Elementary School and a Center for the diversely-abled, and immersed themselves in the life and culture of beautiful Florence and the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. While in Italy, I was able to participate and present a paper on the Italian migration dilemma at the international conference of the Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies held at The American University of Rome in Italy. All while working on an ongoing manuscript project.
