A Postcard from Ms. Noha Mohama-Akkari, Arabic
I come from Damascus, Syria, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, where I taught Arabic as a second language, and had the opportunity to meet students from all over the world. At Texas State University, I continue to equip my students with linguistic proficiency, but my aim is for students to learn not only the language, but also to research and learn about the culture and people of the Arab world. So, I encourage students to participate in the Arab Cultural Club on campus as well as take part in the study abroad program in the Arab World where they fully immerse themselves in its culture. Last summer, we went to Morocco, where we visited Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains.
